Live features undergo several changes in 2018. Wizdeo helps you see more clearly to better manage your live broadcasts.
In addition to providing videos on demand, many of you offer live shows to your community. Good news : YouTube adds several new features in 2018 that will help you get the most out of this format.
1 - Streaming directly from the browser without encoding software
To stream on YouTube, there are two options: those who plan their stream in advance, and those who embark on the moment. For the more provident, YouTube proposes to create Events allowing to define in advance the parameters of your live (date and time of beginning, enable a backup stream for redundancy, etc ...). For those who prefer to start immediately in their live stream, you have the opportunity to Stream Now.
In ancient times, to be able to go live immediately on YouTube, Creators had to download an encoding software to link the Creator's computer with YouTube. YouTube now offers a simple solution: stream directly from the browser.
For the moment it is available only on Google Chrome, but this new feature will soon be extended to other browsers. To be able to use it, you should of course activate the live broadcast on your channel, then click on this link.
This feature, however, only takes into account your webcam, not your desktop or your possible game session.
2 - Superchat activated IFTTT actions
IFTTT actions are a way of transforming digital actions (here, receiving a Superchat message) into a physical consequence (for example, changing a light's color or turning on a connected device).
It is now possible to assign an IFTTT action to the reception of a Superchat as shown in the video below. This will allow you, with the adapted gear, to program simple visual effects for your lives which will push your community to use the Superchat.
As a reminder, Superchat it is a feature generating a lot of revenue and during its implementation we noticed a significant increase in revenue from our partners who regularly go live. In average, they earned more than 100% additional income thanks to Super Chat.

3 - Live Chat Replay
Previously, live chat would end at the end of the live stream. It is now possible to have it in real time even after the end of the stream during the replay.
4 - Location tags
When live on mobile, creators can now indicate a location tag during the creation of the live.
Users can then search for lives by sorting them by location. An additional way to be discovered during mobile live on a well followed event by users for example.
5 - Live Subtitles
So far, YouTube automatically-generated captions were only available on video-on-demand. They are now available during a live video too.
Also this feature is only available in English, but the tool should develop gradually on other languages.
To better prepare your future live streams, it is recommended to use a optimized-scheduling tool such as the one available on Wizdeo Analytics to have personalized recommendations on the best time to release your video. Wizdeo Analytics also allows you to identify your subscribers favorite videos to adapt the subject of your live to their request.
